Technology Education - Courses Offered

Technology Engineering

Architectural Engineering:  Students will get a sampling of Auto Cad and Google Sketch-up while designing and building trusses, small structures, and Scale model houses.  Some of the projects will be tested in our Structural stress analyzer.

Transportation Engineering:  Classes will build Rocket powered cars, experiment with mouse traps and compressed air as power sources for vehicles and build Rock Crawlers and crash test vehicles that actually perform.  Cars can be tested for aerodynamic design in our wind tunnel.

Aerospace Engineering:  This class covers various forms of rocketry and air craft design along with construction of a hot air balloon.

Robotic Engineering : Robotics from the ground up starting with fingers and moving on to the development of your own robotic hand and end effectors, and finishing up by constructing a 3 axis hydraulic robot that competes with the others in the class in a ping pong ball challenge.

Power and Energy Engineering:  Students will learn about and build wind generators, solar powered vehicles, propeller vehicle, hover crafts, solar ovens, and look at energy efficient homes and other alternate energy ideas.

Structural Engineering:  Class will design, build and test bridges, towers, construction cranes, along with various other structures.  We will finish up the class with a catapult/trebuchet design contest and competition.

Computer Design Technology: We will work in the areas of Photoshop, Animation, 3D Graphics along with other programs for individual projects based on areas of interest such as Sound Editing, Car and Truck Design, Music (Garage Band Software) Flight Simulation and Problem Solving Software.

Production Engineering:  Mass production has and will continue to be a major player in our world.  This class will design prototypes of various projects and mass produce those projects in limited numbers for distribution to needy charities and other community and school organizations.  Students in this class will do lots of woodworking and have the opportunity to build a small project for themselves.
